In September 2011, a 15-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in a Brampton park. Officers attached to Peel Regional Police’s special victims unit had a description, but the perpetrator was long gone. Detectives checked to see whether there had been any PRP17s (street check reports) filed from anywhere nearby. Bingo. Up came a street check on a 37-year-old man — including name, date of birth and description — who was engaged by police at the park months earlier.
